Moneysaver: Chai Tea at Home

While nothing can replace the conversation and pampering feeling of treating yourself to a drink at a coffee shop, your wallet can feel a pinch in a hurry when you indulge too much (not to mention your waist in your jeans from all of the Vitamin D milk and fancy syrups.)  Below you will find a recipe for an easy spiced tea that makes you the creator, leaving the kind of milk (I substitute skim) and amount of spice in your hands!

Ingredients:

Directions:

In large saucepan, combine tea, orange peel and spices. Add sweetened condensed milk; mix well. Over medium heat, slowly stir in water. Heat thoroughly but do not boil. Refrigerate any leftovers.

  • 3/4 cup unsweetened instant tea

  • 1 tsp. finely grated orange peel

  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves

  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

  • 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk

  • 6 1/3 cups water
